  • so i was playing as trevor right after the train heist out on the northern side of mount gordo, practice hunting with the heavy shotgun, when the police showed up in a bright blue rebel and shot what i was aiming at, then ran me over when i resumed shooting like a normal freaked out ped would. anyway this got me thinking. every protaganist in the gta series can lay down thousands of rounds with no ear plugs and hear just fine after. how do they do this.

    • Because it is a game and not real life.

    • but didnt gta v sell itself on being "realistic"? and i know ear pro exists in game because the character puts the muffs on when you go to the ammunation range.

    • GTA V sold itself on being realistic, but it didn't sell itself on being real life. Ear protection does exist but it solely for cosmetic purposes.

GTA V is very realistic, being one of the most realistic games out there currently, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's an identical clone of real life. Not everything in the game is realistic; Rockstar can't make everything realistic, game-play balances exist, practicalities, there's an endless list of reasons why certain things just couldn't be done.

Don't want to argue here, but I just want to throw in, that they made some un-realistic things in the game, such as controlling the vehicles mid-air (really helpful tho.) Also, the ragdoll and drving physcis aren't as realistic as in GTA IV. In GTA V, every car seems "attached" to the road, unlike GTA IV, in which you can feel that the car isn't dependent of the road... but that's just my opinion, shouldn't collide with yours.

    • Still the most realistic games in the series. As I already explained, not everything can be 100% realistic and some things are actually last minute things (entering the Jet, some interior bugs, some audio mismstches, etc), it isn't perfect but that isn't to say the game isn't realistic. The number of realistic things defintdefi outweighs the unrealistic when you outlay the gameplay balances.

    • And tbh I really don't know why people think the world of GTA IV vehicle physics. Anyone who's actually driven a car would know that cars don't roll around and side to side like they do in GTA IV. IV's crash deformation was definitely more realistic but the center of gravity in GTA V is, generally speaking, a massive improvement.

    • San Andreas already used the "shooting suddenly gives the character tinnitus" joke, during that one mission with Catalina where you case down the liquor store robbers. Rockstar probably just didn't want to reuse a trope that is already rather stale, since it appears in a lot of other media.

    • maybe after a few rounds or when pulling out a weapon ear plugs could appear in the characters ears. if they just appear with no animation, it wont affect gameplay and realism will be preserved
