  • So, what are your opinions? I originally made a mini-rant but I decided to delete it, since it's better to remain neutral at this point, especially since the update isn't even out yet.

Anyways, have a great day, and happy myth hunting! :D

    • In the myth community, I support it because the never-ending butthurt about "never buying another rockstar game again" from people who have spent four years on a single mystery is hilarious.

    • Without saying too much, here's a time-line of negative events that went down this year:

      - Take Two took OpenIV down, but later apologized and said that the OpenIV team can continue the project as a result of a lot of people complaining. Credit to TheIndependent40 for reminding me about this.

      - Take Two announced that the highly-anticipated GTA V Single-Player DLC was scrapped, simply due to more people playing Online.

      - Take Two announced that they would be looking into ways to incorporate a digital currently system into all of their future games.

      - The Trailer for the GTA V Doomsday Heist update dropped, where essentially the jetpack's existence was proven to be real, but only in GTA: Online from the looks of it. They also showed off several DeLorean-looking cars that not only flies, but also can go underwater... only problem is - it's Online content only :/ YAY!

      TO BE CONTINUED! :'(

Don't forget that they almost took OpenIV down... but uhh... that was some modder-class shit.

did you really say that lmaooo

    • For clarification I never stated that I wouldn't buy another Rockstar game again. But what I did say was that I may not find myself buying Red Dead Redemption 2. This is because of many different reasons. My reasons being:

      1) RDR 2 will definitely have microtransactions and for all I know, even freaking loot boxes (since Take Two doesn't see loot boxes as gambling) or some kind of mega-deluxe edition that gives the players that bought it unfair advantages over other RDR2: Online players. I've seen this happen with EA's first Star Wars: Battlefront game and the original Destiny (published by Activision). It would not surprise me to see Take Two pulling something like this off.

      2) Most of the upcoming updates will most likely be online-exclusive, if not all of them. They did it with GTA V so it makes sense.

      3) This kind of brings me back to #1, but Take Two have already stated that they're looking into ways to impliment "recurrent consumer spending opportunities" for all of their future games, which of course is their own variation of the word "microtransactions".

      4) I'm very angry at EA for all of the bullshit they've been causing lately, so seeing one of my favorite game developers go down the same path just because their parent-company are greedy arseholes really makes me sad.

      Also, a few other things:

I just learned from a Reddit post that the new "Doomsday Heist Update" was in fact going to be a part of the Single-player DLC for GTA V. This makes me think that the Chiliad Mystery would've been completed through the DLC. But, because of Take Two, the mystery only continues in the Online mode, which I haven't even spent 10 hours playing on so far. I have, however completed the story mode at least 15 times.

So, in conclusion: I've already boycotted EA, because I'm not putting up with their nonsense and lies any longer. Take Two could be next on my list if they further destroy some of Rockstar's best franchises.

Anyways, this won't stop me from myth hunting in any of the current Rockstar games. I still respect Rockstar. But if Take Two take it too far, I got to show them that I don't want to be a part of it anymore.

Please tell me if you'd like me to provide any links to any of the topics discussed in this thread so far.

      Happy myth hunting! :)

Yeah, I forgot about that. I've updated the time-line. And I will update it again if more things like this happens. I like to keep a record on all of the bad things Take Two are doing, as it already proves that Take Two is a terrible company to work under. If it goes too far with RDR2, I really hope enough people complain about it so that Take Two gets forced to change it. It worked with EA, so it will work with T2 as well. We are in control people, not the greedy publishers. Remember that.

    • Look, I'm not saying that Rockstar are the ones to blame - Take Two is. They're the ones that took down OpenIV, despite it having a large fan base. They're the ones that cancelled the previously promised GTA V Story Mode DLC, just because they don't care about anything else than GTA: Online nowadays (because that's where they'll earn the most money). They're the ones that stated that lootboxes are not a form of gambling, even though EA have proven otherwise. They're also the ones publishing the new RDR2 game, so I have the rights to address my concerns. I mean, how can you trust a shitty publisher that cancelled something that they previously promised us and hyped up at the release of GTA V? How can you trust a publisher that only wants to milk a franchise as dry as bones before they'd stop and move on to the next franchise. I've seen polls, and a lot of people are angry at the direction the new Online DLC is going in, and even some people don't care about GTA: Online at all anymore. Adding in the jetpack as an Online exclusive purchasable object would be the biggest "fuck you" to their loyal customers yet. I really hope that it's either:

      A) Going to be only useable during the Doomsday Heist events. Or B) Gets unlocked in Story Mode as well after solving the mysteries they add into GTA: Online.

I know that I'm ranting a lot, and that this kind of negativity doesn't solve anything. But I'm fed up with these scumbag publishers either fucking over their customers because of microtransactions or straight out lying to their customers about something. Look, they clearly knew already back in 2014 that the Story Mode DLC would be cancelled, but didn't say anything officially before 2017. That's 3 years afterwards. THREE. FREAKING. YEARS. EA may be bad, but what Take Two is doing is simply insulting.

I fully agree with you. The Jetpack itself was a big part of the Chiliad Mystery. After T2 displayed the Jetpack in the trailer, every myth hunter, who tried to find it got angry.

About the Online thing... I honestly say that it's just useless and overrated. When I was watching the trailers back in 2013, I just thought it was something like SAMP or MTA, but set in the universe of GTA V. Having fun with friends and/or random people you could find on servers. I liked that concept. However, some time after its release I heard about Shark Cards. That made me realize that the Online was nothing else, but just a piece of garbage, just to fill T2's pockets.

After all, I would rather go play Tibia than GTA Online...

    • As for all the calls for boycotts, I think I will just do the usual thing I do with every single triple A game... wait a few months so the game is 5 dollars used from the internet or gamestop and all the bonus content is released instead of hype, even if it is DLC.

I agree with you. I, personally, spawned hydras using SNT. But well, some people in fact don't know how to install it...

    • I wish I could, but I'm as much of a vanilla-player as a person can get. I've never pirated a game. I've never installed mod files for any game. I've nearly never used any cheat codes in video games either (except in GTA: IV sometimes just for fun. Not to gain a gameplay advantage. I always quit the game afterwards and played the game normally again, as I did not want to take away from the purpose of certain missions). However, I do not have a problem with other people using these mods. They've paid for the game themselves, so they can choose themselves what they want to do in it. As for me, I think I'll just have to either get more into GTA: Online or let the jet pack stay in the past where Rockstar intended it to belong. After all, I don't think they would've added the jet pack unless so many people were vocal about it and said they wanted a jet pack. Also, I'm surprised it only cost 3,6 million unmodified. I was expecting around 10 million just for the jet pack itself without any modifications.
