Sharks, or Jaws, are an unlikely myth in Grand Theft Auto IV.

Sharks have been a lightly debated myth in GTA IV, there is a small but persistent group of myth hunters that insist that sharks have appeared in every GTA game since GTA Vice City.
If the player takes a Higgins Heli Tour, the guide will sometimes mention that Liberty City's warm water attracts sharks to the city. A shark appears eating a barking dog on the program A History of Liberty - Part Two.
Sharks are unlikely to be in the game because of the lack of any other sea life in the game, plus the player lacks the ability to swim underwater. In addition, having sharks in the waters of a city based off the real life New York would be a fairly questionable addition. As the waters surrounding New York wouldn’t be warm enough or the clean enough quality to support shark life.
