At the end of the dock, there is an old rusty wheelchair, a reference to the horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Many myths in the game, including the Leatherface myth, centralize around this wheelchair. However, it may be an Easter egg.

Mysteriously, the wheelchair shares it's texture with an old skip dumpster found in various places around the state. Because of this, it says "SKIP HIRE" in several places around the wheelchair. This texture duplication could be simply because the game developers did not want to make an entirely new texture for the wheelchair, and instead simply recycled a texture from the dumpster.

There also appears to be a different texture on the front wheels of the chair, showcasing text reading '2:30 PM'. Several players have taken to assume that this may be a time of mythological significance. There is another texture on the left side of the wheelchair that appears to be a traffic light with the red light on, which, to the unsuspecting eye, may first appear to be blood. The "mystery of the chair" was never solved in the standard GTA game, and it is believed the chair doesn't carry any true importance.

The topic gained traction once more, when two members of GTA Forums launched their own competition called 'GTA Treasurehunt'. It includes already-made Design Your Own Missions for the GTA Treasurehunt, the last mission there included solving the wheelchair mystery. The lake was filled up with rocks and stones and the dead body was floating in the middle.

It also bears a resemblance to the wheelchair Johnny Sindacco is forced to travel in after the mission Fender Ketchup.

Trivia

  • Interestingly, the wheelchair makes metallic sounds if the player hits it. Most objects in the game do not make sounds when hit unless they are intended to be interacted with.
