Movie References are rooted deeply in Grand Theft Auto myths and Easter eggs. Many myths are inspired by movies while others are inspired from real life reports and rumors. Movie inspired myths are usually false as it is common for characters in movies to be copyrighted; thus the likelihood of them legally making it into the game are slim. However characters in movies that have existed in public domain for a certain period of time are not copyrighted; making it possible for a game developer to include them free of legal hurdles, as well as making parodies of movie characters.
