Monkeys are animals that appear in Grand Theft Auto V. Although not appearing in the wild, they appear during the mission Did Somebody Say Yoga?, while Michael is hallucinating. They also appear in the mission Monkey Business, as Michael, Steve Haines and Dave Norton are making their escape from Humane Labs And Research.
Overview[]
In the mission Did Somebody Say Yoga?, Michael, suffering from drug-induced hallucination from Jimmy spiking the soda he drank, sees himself in a green-illuminated alleyway surrounded by angry chimpanzees. These animals appear later on in the storyline, in the mission Monkey Business inside the Humane Labs and Research Facility. The monkeys are all in cages, and appear to be in a severely agitated state, possibly suffering from the effects of animal testing. A monkey actor, named Chippy, appears in the film Meltdown, acting as the stereotypical animal comic relief of many modern movies.
Trivia[]
- Although called Monkeys in the game, they are not monkeys at all. Instead, they are chimpanzees, a kind of ape.
- When watching the film Meltdown, there is a trailer for a film known as The Simian, which is a parody of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The film itself shows hoards of monkeys devastating Los Santos and Liberty City with firearms.
