Jason is a false myth in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Jason in the game is primarily known for the Easter egg discovered with respect to him in both Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.

Description[]

Hockey masks were first introduced in GTA Vice City. A hockey mask is worn by Tommy Vercetti during the mission The Job. The mask can be seen kept at the Malibu Club and Tommy's Ocean View Apartment, after the successful completion of this mission. This could be a reference to the use of a hockey mask worn by Jason. A dialogue from the movie, Knife After Dark, a psychotic thriller, mentions the hockey season. This is likely a hint towards Jason. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives was also released in 1986, the same year events of GTA Vice City take place. Moreover, the killer in the movie shares a similar history to that of Jason's.

In GTA Vice City Stories, a movie called Twilight Knife is in the works. On VCPR, one contributor says of the film;

I didn't know it was hockey season.

Despite being referenced in both the games, Jason isn't reported to be sighted anywhere in the game though the references found have formed Jason into a minor and false myth for the game as numerous users still try to search for Jason's existence in the game. Players have faked their sightings and developed custom skins for Jason, further distorting the myth's veracity.
