The following is part of a reddit post of mine that got autoblocked, so I figured this is a good alternate place to post it, it's a little long, but bear with me:
"...after a bit of thought, I asked myself 'what is the mural REALLY showing?', and think I actually see what the mural means: IT'S ACTUALLY ALL THE STEPS TO GET THE CHILLIAD UFO TO SPAWN, NOTHING ELSE.
See, what does the platform says before the UFO? 'come back when your story is complete', now think, whose story should be complete? Franklin's? Michael's? Trevor's? Try THE PLAYER'S. Heck, even if it's indeed a character's story it's talking about, it's NOT EVEN TRUE that something happens after the campaign, as the UFO only spawns at 100% completion, which brings me to the conclusion that the message is technically not refering to a protagonist, but the player. So OK, let's say it's refering to us, the players, what's our story? Well, it's any player's story: play the game and complete it 100%, of course, having fun, sure, but still, completing it. 'Whatever, dude, how about the mural?', see, the mural is actually giving us hints of all the conditions to get the UFO, nothing too clear as they're only hints, I'll point'em for you:
- The drawing shows a mountain, which we all accept that it's Mount Chilliad;
- We see thunderbolts, just like the ones we need to trigger the UFO;
- 5 boxes with Xs marked on'em, this is the interesting part: those are the core items you need to get 100%: 1- complete 69 story missions + Lester's assassinations (if you prefer, this item can be 'complete important missions'), 2- 14 random events, 3- Franklin's strangers and freaks missions (JUST Franklin because of ending reasons), 4- 42 hobbies and pastimes, 5- 16 miscellaneous tasks;
- Three seemingly random doodles, with this, I'll have to stick with my idea that they represent each protagonist, although which is which can be ignored, it's basically irrelevant now. Remember that regardless of ending, all 3 of them are needed for the 100%. EDIT - I'll explain about the symbols anyways: the UFO is Michael because he's "alienated" from his family and reality, the egg is Trevor because he's crazy (more specifically, the cracked egg symbolizes his "damaged" head) and the jetpack is a metaphor of Franklin ascending socially due to his successful crimes (from the ghetto to Vinewood Hills);
- At the base of the drawing we see various lines, which represent night that is being lit by the object at the upper part of the mural, night is the time when we need to be at the top;
- There's an object at the top of the mountain, this is the UFO we can see when all of those requirements are met simultaniously.
So, that's how I see the mural now, with a bit of Occam's Razor, no easter egg, just a very criptic and oversimplified way to tell us what to do to see the actual easter egg."
That's it. What do you think?
