Still hard to believe that it's been 3 years since the pandemic. Ironically enough, 2020 was the year I pledged to some other users that I was going to quit the wiki, then COVID came around and I ended up stuck here for a while again because I had nothing better to do.
Most of the regular wiki users aren't active anymore, and some of them I don't even have contact with anymore. Not that it means much, because I'm also preoccupied with other things these days - had someone not messaged me on discord about a problematic user in the last couple of days, I probably wouldn't even be in this thread. I might end up editing a little bit for just a while, but that's because it feels like I'm basically tethered to this wiki forever.
Not sure what to say for the future. On the wiki side, the forced updates which killed the forums and changed up a lot of the web page design basically killed all of the wiki's activity overnight. Couple that with the disastrous release of the GTA "remastered" trilogy and GTA V being brought into the next console generation instead of a new game in the series, and it makes sense that there's not really anything for people to talk about even if they wanted to be active. My only real worry is that with none of either the 2013 or 2016-2018 generation users active, new users who don't understand the wiki's culture, memes, and unspoken rules will slowly begin to take over and perhaps make bad changes. But that is something that I could both write too much about, and that will only be relevant many years in the future when I most definitely won't be on here anymore.
